Had such a great experience at Tokyo Izakay. The food was genuinely impressive everything came out fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. The gyoza were perfectly crisp on the outside and juicy inside, the sushi rolls were well balanced and delicious, and the tempura was light and crunchy without feeling greasy. Even the simple dishes like edamame were spot on.

The service was just as good as the food. Staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything arrived quickly without feeling rushed. They created a really welcoming atmosphere.

The restaurant itself has a lovely vibe warm lighting, relaxed setting, and that authentic izakaya feel that makes you want to sit back, share plates, and enjoy a drink.

Overall, great food, great service, and a really nice atmosphere. Definitely worth visiting and I’ll be back.

I recently discovered this ramen house in Birmingham and it has quickly become my favorite in town. The ramen is hands down the best I’ve had here—rich, flavorful broth and perfectly cooked noodles. Portions are generous and definitely value for money. On top of that, the staff are friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. Highly recommend for anyone craving a great bowl of hot ramen and Japanese food.

Delicious food yesterday evening before visiting The Alexandra theatre. We had 2 bentonite boxes, noodles ans katsu curry and all dishes were excellent. I'd also like to say thank you for the excellent service on a very busy evening, and for finding us a table when I hadn't been organised enough to book!

When you go to an Asian restaurant which are currently very popular at the moment, you can always expect good service & good food. Tokyo izakaya is one of the best ive been too. Me and my friends had an array of different foods from sashimi, to bento boxes & also katsu curry. All dishes, slapped other than the sashimi which my friends were not keen on, but this is definitely down to preference & not the food itself.

The staff were very attentive & were always their when we needed them. Price was abit on the more expensive side but always to be expected with brum town. Cannot praise the meal enough from this restaurant, definitely recommend.

This place it self from outside might not look as compelling as from the inside, the inside of the restaurant is amazingly decorated, the staff is very friendly and acknowledges your presence, the food and atmosphere is very nice, the price of each item is understandable, I didn’t have change and had only notes of 20s and 10s and 5s, my total was £36 and something, but the staff said £35 was fine as I didn’t have change, I gave them £40 out of £45 but my only 5 was missing when I went outside, so when I requested my £5 again that I had given, they gave it back to me with no hesitation and were very polite about the situation and accepted £35, would certainly recommend this place, a place to visit again!

Easily in the top 5 sushi restaurants I have ever visited (the best in UK). The quality of the dishes and the flavor are amazing. I could do with little bigger portions, but cannot complain at all with the flavor experience I had.

Booked a table here for before the theatre after seeing great reviews online and I’m so glad we did! Such friendly service, gorgeous food and the atmosphere/vibes were really nice.
There was so much on the menu we wanted to try so we look forward to returning! Also recommend booking as it got really busy :)

Absolutely Outstanding!

I recently visited Tokyo Izakaya and was blown away by the whole experience. The atmosphere is warm, stylish, and authentically Japanese. You feel like you’ve stepped straight into a Tokyo backstreet eatery. The sushi was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented; every bite melted in the mouth. I've tried Chicken Kastu Curry, Chicken Kastu, Akita Mango and Salmon Maki, and Volcano Dragon Maki. It was full of flavour and grilled to perfection.

The staff were friendly, attentive, and made great recommendations from both the food and sake menu. The Robata grill dishes were a standout, and the tonkotsu ramen was rich, comforting, and packed with umami. A big thank you to Jessica, Mukesh, and the entire team for the delicious food and warm hospitality.

If you’re looking for genuine Japanese dining in Birmingham, this is easily one of the best. I’ll definitely be returning. Highly recommended!

I visited twice and enjoyed my meal both times! The sushi is pretty good quality especially the salmon! The unagi jyu was great too, I found it quite rich and difficult to finish but that is just the nature of the dish

I was happy to find a good Japanese restaurant 😊 if I’m ever back in Birmingham I will come here again

First time eating here, after some shopping in Birmingham! Absolutely beautiful restaurant with friendly staff. Super quick service given it was a busy Saturday. The tonkotsu ramen was to die for alongside the chicken gyoza. My Mom had the chicken katsu, which was also amazing! The best I've ever had actually. Would definitely recommend and would return again!

this is probably our 3rd time going and we were blown away once again.
we had a table booked for 4:30 for valentines day, we got there slightly early but were seated right away.
they gave us a good amount of time to pick our food and drinks.
they took our orders, and starting bringing out the food not even 15mins after!
the food was incredible as always, and the blue lagoon was delicious.
they played beautiful music, and even played happy birthday for the table next to us.
overall an amazing experience and we will definitely be going again.

One of my most favourable food places in the UK & definitely the most favourable sushi place in the world for me. It’s just THAT good! I don’t live in Birmingham but sometimes I go especially:) lovely food, lovely service, suitable for anyone who is not a sushi fan but loves seafood alright.
